very nice! I loved the combination of the soft subtle music and the fluidity of the animation... everything seemed so touchable and soft.

Very cool with a little bit of creepy factor tossed in... I know big brother is inevitable but I think it would still weird me out a bit to get a coupon or ad on my phone just as I am approaching their product on the shelf. Though in the big picture, it would be an incredible way to market directly to the most likely consumer... I suppose.

However, I guess to get that feeling in the first place I would need to have a smartphone... lol!

** Update **

Received this link in an email: http://consumerist.com/2010/07/how-did-they-make-that-old-spice-commercial.html

Isaiah Mustafa, the gent who wears no shirt, is interviewed on G4 about the making of the spot. He claims that the saw is real, but doesn't answer the question is the sawdust CG directly. My guess is that the saw was not actually cutting, unless they replaced the counter in every take, which would be a huge waste of money, but in Hollywood, who knows?

He also, interestingly, does not answer the question about the costume change, but that is fairly obvious, looking at it frame by frame.

In the first 60 days or so of the crisis, I think BP spent more time trying to contain the publicity rather than the oil. Whether or not that is true, the fact that they spent so much time and money on PR is in itself bad PR for the company. I'd bet that BP is out of business within the next 2 years and we are left holding the bag anyway.

Well said. It's hard to understand why the common sense of branding eludes so many.

I've always liked "Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline." and a quick google search turned up that it has been Maybelline's slogan since 1991. Almost 20 yrs. It doesn't seem that old at all!

It kind of looks like he has on some kind of acrobatic rig for the jump into the swan dive. I'm not sure how they brushed that out of the final product, but it looks like there is some kind of rig under his clothes. Man, that's a good spot.
