Glee-ful check-ins!
A lot of us at CurrentMarketing have become fans of Foursquare and have become hopelessly addicted to checking-in all over town. Well, if you haven’t already heard about it, many new apps now allow you to check into your favorite TV shows. Miso, Philo, Startling and GetGlue are all apps that allow users to say “I’m here” to TV shows, movies and even books!
GetGlue is already reporting approximately 200,000 total check-ins per day and is in the process of launching a program with Fox where the network will promote new series to viewers of its existing shows. For example, viewers that check-in to “Glee” will get notices on new comedies coming this Fall. Viewers checking-in to Bones will receive notices on new dramas.
Now that television is onboard, Hollywood is sure to follow suit. There are already mumblings about how studios can use these apps to build brand loyalty and enthusiasm for movies.
